Etsy US-specific pricing: how to set it and what to charge

Since 9 July 2026, Etsy expects shops outside the US to prepay US duty on physical US orders through a delivered duty paid (DDP) label. US-specific pricing lets you charge US buyers more to cover it, without raising prices for everyone else.

Why you need it now

  • The US ended duty-free entry for small parcels on 29 August 2025, so physical orders to the US now pay duty.
  • From 9 July 2026, US orders only keep Etsy Purchase Protection if you ship DDP, which means you pay the duty when you buy the label.
  • If you don't raise your US prices, that duty comes out of your profit on every US sale. If you raise all prices, you lose buyers at home and in other countries.

How to set it

  1. Use Etsy.com in a browser. US-specific pricing can't be set in the Sell on Etsy app or third-party listing tools.
  2. Open a listing in Shop Manager and set a separate price for US buyers, or select several listings and edit US prices in bulk (up to 500 listings at a time when Etsy launched the feature).
  3. Use the US tariffs estimator in the listing form to find a likely tariff code, then check it. Etsy says the estimator, run by Zonos, isn't guaranteed to be accurate.
  4. Save, then view the listing from a US location or ask a US friend to check the price they see.

Traps to avoid

  • Listings with lots of variations. At launch, US-specific pricing didn't work on listings with more than 400 variations. Split very large listings if you need it.
  • Global pricing overriding it. If you'd already raised your "global" prices to cover tariffs, readjust them after setting US prices, or non-US buyers keep paying the tariff markup and some settings can override the US price.
  • Prices resetting. Some sellers report Etsy's domestic and global pricing occasionally resetting. Spot-check your US prices after bulk edits and every few weeks.
  • Sales and coupons. A 20% sale cuts your US price by 20% too, but the duty and Etsy's fees are still charged on what the buyer pays. Leave room in the US price for the discounts you run.

What number to put in

The US price has to cover the duty, Etsy's fees on the higher price, and any DDP handling charge on the label, while leaving you the same take-home as a sale at home. Because duty and fees are both percentages of the final price, the right US price is more than "price plus duty".

The duty depends on where the item was made. Most countries now pay the normal US rate plus 10% or 12.5%:

If DDP isn't available for your route

Etsy allows an exception only where no DDP label exists. You then have to say in the listing that duties are due on delivery, get the buyer to agree to the estimated amount before you ship, and keep proof of that message.
