It also banned AI-generated patterns and recipes and listings made by bots, and said existing listings need to be updated. Optional: your sold items file (CSV), to put bestsellers first ## How to get your files - In Etsy, open **Shop Manager**, then ** Settings**, then ** Options**, then the ** Download data** tab. - Download **Currently for sale listings**. That's the listings file, with up to 10 photo links per listing. - Optional: on the same tab, download **Order items** for the last year. We use it only to count what each listing has sold. - Choose the files above. Nothing is sent anywhere; the check runs on your computer. ## What each flag means - Fix The listing's words show it needs a change under the new rules: a pattern or recipe without a real result photo, an AI-made item without a disclosure, AI work called handmade, a mockup with no real photo, or no photos at all. - Check Something only you can confirm: that one photo is truly unedited, that a download shows a real preview, or that near-copy listings were each made by you rather than a bot. Tick **Checked** when you've done it; your ticks are saved in this browser. - Tip Not required, but it lowers the risk: a second photo, or real photos of past personalised orders. We read your listings' words and photo links, not the photos themselves, so we can't see whether a photo was edited. Use the photo check below on the original files from your phone or camera. ## Check a photo before you use it as your unedited one Choose the original photo files from your phone or camera. We read each file's own data, the camera details and any marks left by editing apps, AI image tools or Content Credentials, and make a proof record you can keep in case Etsy asks how you made the item. Photo files (JPEG, HEIC, PNG or WebP) Read in this browser and never uploaded. Use the original file, not one sent through WhatsApp or downloaded from Etsy: those lose the camera details. Which listing are these for? (optional, goes on the proof record) This only reads what's stored in the file. It can't prove a photo was never changed, and Etsy hasn't said how it checks photos. Etsy decides what breaks its rules, and it hasn't published how its detection works. ListingProof shows which listings most likely need work under the rules Etsy announced, so you can fix the ones that matter most first. ### Is ListingProof made by Etsy? No. It's an independent tool and isn't affiliated with or endorsed by Etsy, Inc. The file check never touches your Etsy account. If you connect your shop, we get read-only access to your listings, sales and shop name through Etsy's official API, and you can disconnect at any time. The term "Etsy" is a trademark of Etsy, Inc. This application uses the Etsy API but is not endorsed or certified by Etsy, Inc. ### Do you see my files? No. Your listings file, sales file and photos are read in your browser and never uploaded. If you tick listings as checked, the ticks are saved in this browser only. ### What do you keep if I connect my shop? Your shop name and ID, your active listings (titles, descriptions, tags, prices and photo links), the number of sales per listing, your shop watch settings, and Etsy's access keys, which we store encrypted. Nothing about your buyers. Disconnect deletes all of it straight away. ### How do you know if a photo is edited? For your listings we don't: the photo links in Etsy's file point to copies Etsy has already resized. For your original files, the photo check reads the camera details and marks left by editing apps, AI tools and Content Credentials. Edits that leave no mark can't be seen this way. ### Do digital downloads need an unedited photo? No. Etsy says most digital downloads need a visual preview or excerpt of the actual content instead. Audio and other non-visual files may use representative images, including AI images, if they don't mislead. Patterns and recipes still need a real photo of a finished result. ### Can I still use AI? For some things. Etsy still allows AI-assisted art if you have a clear creative role and disclose it, and AI-edited photos as extra images if they show what the buyer gets. It doesn't allow AI-generated patterns, recipes or instructions, or listings made by bots with no human involvement.
